Ross Mannell is a wonderful support to the LendMeYourLiteracy team, providing inspirational comments to our young writers from his base in Australia. More about Ross:
I’m a retired teacher in New South Wales, Australia. While I have a science degree, I chose to teach in primary schools (5 to 12 year old students) because it allowed me to follow passions in many directions. My interests include writing, science, maths, history, geography, music, art, photography, video production for schools and community groups, cinema, hiking… I think you get the idea! I find interest in most things around me.
I have been involved with computers since 1975 while at university and in classes since 1981. I have seen very many changes in what we can do with technology. More recently, blogging has become a wonderful way of sharing with others whether through my writing or by commenting on the blogs of students. My most popular blog is “Extended Comments for Students” where I write longer comments for others and often include photos, graphics, video (through my You Tube channel) or audio content.
Writing has become a passion of mine through blogging, writing short or long stories and commenting on student blogs around the world. As well as having personal blogs dedicated to story writing, I am part of a few groups visiting and commenting on student writing. I enjoy sharing the worlds created by children through their writing.
When challenged to write my autobiography in six words, I offered words I try to live by…
Seeking ways to make a difference.
